Jerusalem: Jesus' Passion in Context
The seminar will explore Jesus' life from Palm Sunday to Easter in their original context. These familiar stories become fresh and powerful and new when considered int eh setting of Jerusalem where God placed them. The Jewish culture, the Hebrew Bible, the Romans who executed him, and the expectations of his disciples will be explored in detail. We will seek to better understand Jesus' teaching of that week as well as the implications of his suffering through consideration of God's context. God's call to all to believe and life as his partners, bringing shalom to the chaos of our broken world will challenge you deeply.
Participants should prepare by reading the following passages:
Matthew 20-28, Mark 8:11-16, Luke 17-24, John 11-21
